So it’s the end of Valentines Day 2012. Whether it is a joyous event for you and yours or a seemingly pre-apocalyptic cry fest, it’s still here and not changing…the day where sugary treats, mass farmed roses, and goofy grins are seen everywhere, and even if all you want to do is curl up in a ball on the couch with your new beaus “Ben and Jerry” the love fest is unavoidable.
But that’s the thing isn’t it. Continue reading
We’ve all had them. Those ‘drop you off the edge of your world and right into another’ type of moments. Everything goes from black and white with subtle hues to psychadelic colors, unforseen landscapes of fuscias and emeralds, shots of gold, and streaks of lime. You know…one minute your comfortable and content and the next minute you are thrown for a loop and loving every minute. Continue reading

If that title didn’t make you smile then imagine it in pink sparkly letters dancing across the screen and there ya’ go…
So….shoot me….it’s been a long time. LIKE OVER A MONTH since these fingers have done the walkin’ and this blog has done any talkin’.
Any-hoo i’m back and ready to sparkle.
The holidays… ‘Nuff said right? Well not really. Continue reading
Team S.O.L takes on Raleigh’s health and fitness community, One chatarunga/dead lift/sprint/jog/and mountain climber at a time
Recently my coworkers and I embarked on a 10 day challenge to get out into the health, wellness, balance community and take it by storm. My direct teammate for the “race” was Maria Peterson, a local firefighter and kick-arse crossfitter. The goal was to spend as many hours as possible taking classes (especially those outside of our comfort zone), joining run clubs, hanging with peeps at local diggs and basically living a healthy, balanced, and fun life. Here are our notes on many of our adventures around this big, beautiful, balanced community. Most of the notes are a melding of our thoughts so just imagine them coming from one person instead of two 😉
(of the Triangle)
So today I had a brilliant light-bulb moment. A way to combine these passions:
- Building Community
- Blogging like I WISH it was my job
- Spreading the yoga love
Brilliant I dare say…OK maybe not but at least fun 🙂
A series of photoshoots for some of my yoga sequences to highlight on CafeGanesha (I love the stick figures but let’s be honest… There’s only so much one can do with the 2 dimensions). I’ll shoot a sequence with a local-should-be-celebrity (someone making waves in big or small ways) that just happens to dig the yoga. This way i’ll offer sequences for your home practice, introduce you to some rockin’ peeps you need to know in your own community, and provide you with some visual stimulation all at once. Totally Awesome Right??!
So are you in? We all have a story to tell…
Call to action:

By the way…did you get that email? 😉

Daily Dose of…Soul Scrubbing
Think about this and chew on it folks…
Who would you be if you shed all the labels you gave yourself? I don’t just mean the “negative” labels, but ALL of them. Your job, your hobbies, your family role, your social role, ALL OF EM’…
Ponder that. Then ponder it some more. Maybe sit your butt on the floor, light a candle, and then ponder it even more. You know… meditate and stuff. You might be surprised to find that underneath all of the labels is a shining and spacious soul full of possibility. You also might find it hard to detach from those self imposed “stamps” to see that beauty.
That’s what yoga does for me. It helps me to get out of my own way, ditch the sticky labels for 60, 90, 120 minutes and see the true self instead of seeking a label that fits JUST RIGHT. ‘Cause guess what dolls, none of them ever fit every part of you. There is no way they could with all those little bits of God roaming around inside.

A yogis guide to letting go
Cool little blog on three passions in life; travel, creative activism and yoga. Just another cool source 🙂
My guru is you. My guru is me.
My guru is the very air I breathe, the soil between my hands, the trees and their shade.
My guru shows up through my love of life, my guru is my broken heart.
My guru rejoices in the joyful participation of life’s sorrows, and the remarkable resilience of the human spirit to do good despite naysayers, party poopers, and downright crabby pants.
My gurus are the naysayers, party poopers, and downright crabby pants.
